Abstract

The article describes a clinical case of generalized meningococcal infection that developed in an almost healthy 43-year-old man. The infection was caused by atypical Neisseria meningitidis and occurred in the form of fulminant sepsis with shock, gastroenteritis syndrome and severe abdominal syndrome without hemorrhagic rash and meningeal signs. Meningitis was detected by pathomorphological examination of brain tissue. The disease proceeded at lightning speed; the patient was refractory to the therapy. Death occurred 18 hours after the onset of the disease.
